Anakin Skywalker Vs Darth Vader

Jeremy here with our next Fabled Fight: Anakin Skywalker Vs Darth Vader. Star Wars spoilers ahead.

As you likely know, these two combatants are the same person, but from different time periods. In Star Wars Episode 3, Anakin Skywalker falls to the dark side and is soon placed into the distinct black armor he'll wear for the rest of his life. For this fabled contest, imagine Skywalker from the beginning of Episode 3 battling his future self; let's take Vader from Episode 5. Anyway, time for our brief analysis of each fighter and then the verdict!

Anakin Skywalker:
--- Chosen One
--- Loves his wife
--- Grateful for his mentor, Obi-Wan
--- Despite young age, capable of outdueling many Jedi
--- Fights using lightsaber form 5, called Djem So.

--- Incredible force potential
--- Young, agile, confident

Darth Vader:

--- Chosen One
--- His wife's dead
--- Killed his mentor, Obi-Wan

--- Outdueled and killed many Jedi.
--- Developed new fighting style to compensate for heavy armor.

--- Wasted lots of force potential by getting his limbs hacked off, limiting his connection to the Force.
--- Older, experienced, wiser

Verdict: Pre-suit Anakin wins. Vader has experience and patience that his younger version lacks, but Anakin was far more agile and better connected to the Force. I believe Anakin Skywalker was at his peak power at the start of Episode 3, prior to losing many limbs, and before letting anger cloud his fighting style. The winner is Anakin. No, not Vader Anakin. Anakin Anakin. Thanks for reading!

My final thoughts: Did you know Anakin gets a hand/arm chopped off in 3 separate Star Wars movies? (He keeps replacing them with mechanical limbs.) Count Dooku takes one in Episode 2, Obi-Wan in Episode 3,  and Luke Skywalker in Episode 6. And Anakin, as Vader, cuts Luke's hand in 5. Geez, there's a lot of Skywalker appendages floating around out there.

Today in the life of a Jeremy: Today's been fun, with video games, exercise, and article writing!
